Black Veterans for Social Justice
Established in 1979, Black Veterans for Social Justice is a non-profit, community-based organization servicing veterans, their fami-lies, and members of the community.
“All services entail tender loving care and a listening ear.”
The organization provides assistance to veterans with issues such as problems faced with racism and racist policies, little or poor med-ical and rehabilitative services, unemployment, no re-entry prepa-ration into society. Many soldiers leaving the military had a lack of knowledge of their rights or agencies willing to help them.
Some veterans experienced hostile social attitudes and a high percentage suffered from exposure to the lethal toxin “Agent Orange” and continual readjustment obstacles. We will provide program ser-vices to assist military personnel make a smooth transition from active duty to civilian life.

Bridge Street Development Corporation
Bridge Street Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to provide civic and economic opportunities to the residents of Central Brooklyn with an emphasis on low-to-moderate income residents. We do this by building partner-ships with businesses, government, and other community stakeholders.
Founded in 1995 by members of the oldest continuing African-American congregation in Brooklyn, the Bridge Street African Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal Church, BSDC has continuously worked to serve the Bedford Stuyvesant and Central Brooklyn Community, and has become a trusted provider of information, education, housing and social service, as well as a convener of community engagement activities.

Chionesu Bakari
Chionesu Bakari is a mentoring and rites of passage program that has helped me guide over 300 young black males from the ages of eight through eighteen through its rites of passage program. Chionesu Bakari takes young men out of their comfort zone and opens up their world perspectives, guiding their development to the leaders they were born to be.
